2020-2021 CLUB SEASON

  • RULES & EXPECTATIONS
As any organization needs, Texas Ultimate VBA requires a structure for all to follow: Tryouts will determine whether your athlete will be a travel player or a practice-only player. Travel players will attend 5 single-day tournaments. Practice-only players will attend practices for skill instruction only. There will be plenty of tryout opportunities and if needed a private lesson can be a substitute for a tryout. All tryouts will cost $30 and an evaluation can be presented to the athlete upon request. All coaches do not need to be present at the tryouts. The Director has full authority to assign players to teams. The cost to play club volleyball is higher than most organizations. Club is centralized around USAVolleyball through the Lone Star Volleyball Region. This club organization has been established since USA volleyball was created. The closest tournaments are located in Houston and surrounding areas and cost from $115-$500 depending. TUV pays their coaches a monthly stipend as well for their services and knowledge. Other costs involve mandatory officiating licenses, balls, carts, uniforms (jersey, spandex, knee-pads, socks), coach registration with SafeSport training and insurance coverage, and more… Membership fees for 2020/2021 Club Season are: $800 - Travel Team Players $300 - Practice Only Players $45 - Registration (Insurance and Membership Dues) lsvolleyball.org or TBA depending on the new system $30 - Tryout (nonrefundable) Additional tournaments are available for a fee to the team of $400 per tournment added. • PARENT & PLAYER RULES
The club has ZERO tolerance in regards to any illegal activities by its members. Texas Ultimate Volleyball will dismiss any member caught smoking, involved in drugs, drinking, or any other illegal activities. It is expected that all members of TUV represent themselves and the club in a respectful manner at all times. Everyone must understand that we are guests in the gyms in which we practice and compete. All actions reflect upon the player, team, and Texas Ultimate Volleyball. We expect parents to have respect towards our players, coaches, and referees at all times. Let the coaches do their jobs, which will help your player grow and develop into a mature skilled player. Be supportive of each team as well as opponents, and set a good sportsmanship example. We expect players to treat other players, coaches, and anyone else involved with TUV with respect. Players must watch your actions and words on and off the court. We will not tolerate any unsportsmanlike conduct of any kind with other team’s players, fans, coaches, and officials, and especially with each other!! If an athlete develops an attitude of a negative nature during the season, the coach and director will meet with the player and their parents to address the issue which may include discussing further association of the player with the club. Everyone will ref, keep score, and line judge at all tournaments. The ENTIRE team must stay as a team until the teams’ duties are COMPLETELY finished. Dismissal is done by the coach at the END of the day. (There are times the team may have to ref even if we are done playing.) Club Volleyball is competitive. In order to instill competitiveness in the players, playing time is earned during practice. Although it should be, and will strive to be, equal for all players, any playing time in a tournament is entirely the coach’s decision. There are many circumstances that go with playing time, and a coach can sit down and discuss these if a problem seems to arise. The coach however, will only discuss the child in question and no other athletes or athlete’s playing time. If a player becomes injured during the season, a doctor’s release is required for the player to return to practices and/or tournament play. No refunds will be given once the season starts December 1st. All athletes should be fully dressed and ready to practice at the start of their assigned practice at all times. Players must notify their coach PRIOR to any absence or tardiness. Excessive absences and tardiness will not be tolerated. Please understand that you committed yourself to a TEAM and that participation is necessary for a winning team. Excessive tardiness and absences will be discussed in private with the player and their parents. Possible dismissal from the team can result. We understand that there may be times when there is an emergency. We will take and look at each situation on a case-by-case basis. If a problem arises between a player and coach, please follow this protocol: Player talks with the Head Coach of their team. Player and Parent talk with the Head Coach of their team. Player, Parent, Coach, and Director will meet. COVID-19 Play at your own risk!! This is financially and physically. TUV will try and make up any play missed due to another shut down, but no promise on a refund. Most of the money collected is spent before the season starts and cannot be guaranteed to be there to give back if the season is halted again. You must agree to this before sending any payment!!!!!! • PRACTICE GUIDELINES
This is given to all coaches prior to the start of the season: Active Practice Involves: Getting to the gym early, with a determination to get better in at least one area. Active practice means knowing your team’s weaknesses, and doing your best to improve them. Active practice means making sure your girls understand what you as a coach is trying to accomplish. Avoid drills that have girls standing too often. Have extras waiting shag or do wall drills if a slower drill is needed. The more often you give an active practice, the better players you'll make. And the more players on your that team give an active practice, the stronger your team will be. Have a Plan Productive Practices Cover: Write out a minute by minute or drill by drill plan. Need to touch these topics each practice at least some…but not limited to... Passing (Overhead and Forearm) Approaches and Swings Serving Conditioning GameDay Scenarios and Drills Need to touch these topics at least every now and then…as often as possible...
